Fixed Functional Appliance - Forsus

Forsus appliances are used in conjunction with braces to normalize any discrepancies between the upper and lower jaws. The Forsus appliance is designed to work like permanent elastics. It improves the relationship between your upper and lower jaws, which helps correct your overbite. There will be a normal adjustment period of a few days that may involve some discomfort. It is recommended to have soft foods while adjusting. The appliance allows for normal opening while eating and speaking. However, it is recommended that you do not open really wide while
the appliance is in place.

Functional Appliance - Twin Block

Twin blocks will help to straighten your teeth and encourage your jaw to grow.

Twin-Blocks are jaw aligning appliances (braces). They are powerful braces, which can reduce an overjet from 10mm to 4mm in just four months. Twin-Blocks work by harnessing the power of the chewing muscles and should be worn all the time. However, if at first you find your jaw gets tired, simply leave the brace out for a while and rest your mouth.

Twin-Blocks are designed to allow you to eat with the braces in, but if you find this too difficult at first do not worry. Try to wear your braces all the time but taking them out to eat until you get used to them will not harm your treatment. Your teeth will still straighten only more slowly. To clean your teeth remove the brace and clean your teeth as normal.
